NORTH AUCKLAND RAILWAY.
WINTER, TIMETABLE.
REQUEST MADE TO MR. COATES.
(By Telejfraph.—Own Correspondent.)
KAITAIA, this day.
In view of the fact that the Railway Department contemplates reverting to its winter time-table on May 1, so far as the North Auckland railway service is concerned, Mr. George Rickard is making an effort to induce the Minister of Railways to continue the existing service. At the present time it is possible for people in the North Auckland districts to leave home in the morning and reach Auckland in the evening. If the existing railway service is cut out the journey will take two days each way.
The Rt.. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Railways, has promised to give the request urgent consideration, and to communicate with Mr. Rickard.
