BIBLE TRAINING.
IfEW ZEALAJfD INSTITUTE. YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED.
A year's activity, with a marked increase in the evangelistic work undertaken by the students, was reported at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute in the Baptist TJberaacle last night, the Rev. L. Stewart presiding. The session commenced with an enrolment of fifty students, including Baptists, Open Brethren, Presbyterians and others of no demonination. On the completion -of their course 17 received the institute's diploma. Fourteen of the graduates were designated for missionary work in India, China, Africa and. South America. Nine ex-students were now in South America, five in Africa, four in China, three in India, two in New Zealand Maori missions, and one in the Malay States. * The great event of the year had been the opening of a new building free of debt. Over £10,000 had been received fa voluntary subscriptions. The three retiring directors, Rev. J. W. Kemp, Messrs H. R. Jenkins and R. A. Laidlaw, were re-elected, and Mr. S. Barry was also appointed. The purpose of the institute was to train Christian workers, not ministers, so id Mr. Kemn. It was supplying pulpits for several denominations. Students were tau?ht to study the Bible from every point of view.
During the evening the choir of students entertained those present, and a double auartet save an item. Solos rendered by Mr. G. V. Naff el and Miss ■Ruth Grey. Addresses on behalf of the -Indents were delivered by Miss R. A. Thompson and Mr. Nagel.
