The King and Queen of Afghanistan left Manchester, this morning by motor car and visited Port Sunlight, the great soap making town, established by the late Lord Leverhulme. Their Majesties inspected with great interest the model village where the workers live.

This afternoon they proceeded to Birkenhead, where they were welcomed by the Mayor and corporation and then crossed the River Mersey to Liverpool. After a civic welcome there they went over the docks and visited the cotton exchange.
