NAVAL OIL SCANDAL.
"Conspiracy" Formed in Wilson Regime. SENATOR ROBINSON'S ATTACK. (Received 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 29.
Senator Robinson before the Senate stated that the "conspiracy" to get control of the naval oil reserves was formed in the City of Washington during the Woodrow Wilson administration.
He said: If the conspiracy was participated in by high officials of that Administration, and was aided and abetted still by other Democrats of high standing, the record shows a wholesale influencing of Federal officials, including Cabinet members and their important assistants by private oil interests. This was in full bloom under the Wilson Administration and the exhaustion of the nation's navy's supply of oil was already well under way due to Democratic acts of legislation and administration.
He centred upon an attack oil the former Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Daniels .and the ex-Secretary' of the Interior, Mr. Lane, whom he named as the originator of the proposal to lease the naval reserves to private exploitation.
He added: Mr. McAdoo crammed a cool £50,000 of Mr. E. L. Doheny's money into his pockets, and has never yet made restitution. .
He asked if it 'was possible tliat. Mr. McAdoo was using his money to finance {he campaign of Senator Walsh, of Montana.
