THE POLITICAL OUTLOOK.
It is pleasing to see that the Liberals are arranging to contest all the seats at the forthcoming election. It would have been a good thing if an arrangement could have been come to with the Labour party to avoid vote splitting, but this now appears to be hopeless. Messrs. Forbes and Wilford have deserted the Liberal party; they had no right to ehauge the name. The Labour party cannot hope to win forty-two seats and oust the Government, and, as a change of Government is highly desirable, the best thing to do is To get back to the good old Liberal principles of Ballance and Seddon, whose record for sound democratic legislation cannot lie challenged. We Liberals cannot agree with Lalwnr in the socialisation of the entire means of production, distribution and exchange, but there is much we can agree E. STEVENSON".
