VICTORIA LEAGUE.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. first meeting of the council of the Victoria League this year was held this week when several new members were elected.
Regret was expressed at the death of Mrs. Hudson Will iamson. who had been a valuable member of thr* 1 > ■

Teas brought in a large sum of money. The meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect.
It was announced that Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Isaacs had accepted their election as honorary life members of the league. Mr. J. H. Luxford wrote resigning his position on the council in consequence ot his removal from Auckland.
A letter was received from the town clerk, stating that the league's request to hold the annual Daffodil Day had been granted.
Arrangements were made to supply the junior branch of the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire and Children of the Empire, Toronto, with the names of Auckland children who would correspond with Canadian children.
It was announced that the GovernorGeneral and Lady Alice Fergusson intended to be present at the Empire Ba'l on May 24.
Mrs. J. Finn was elected a vice-presi-dent. Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, chairwoman of the Ever-Ready Committee, and Miss M. Gerrard, chairwoman of the Care of Soldiers* Graves Committee, were elected to the executive. Messrs. C. C. Chalmers and X. Dutbie were elected members of the council.
