In a game for the Gllmore Cup, Eowick defeated Papatoetoe by 11 points. WHANGAREI CLUB.

The Whangarei Bowling Club has withstood many challenges for the White Cup this season, but their hold was very precarious yesterday afternoon, when the Portland Club sent Leigh, Williams, Gaunt and Brewls In quest of the trophy. They were met by Moo rent ft, Caplln, G. Marshall and M.'G. King. The visitors started off with great elan. ■ and a handy five on the tenth head gave them the lead, 15 —7. After the tea adjournment, however, the local side were considerably refreshed,- and the next five heads went in their favour, making the score at' the fifteenth head 15 all. A four on the next head to Portland enhanced their chances, but the holders hung on tenaciously, and eventually ran out the winners by 23—20.

The Dargavijle. Bowling Club, the .holders of Che Hyland Shield for the past two seasons, suffered defeat yesterday, afternoon ait the hands of Whangarei by 54 points to 42. Details are:—E. Sothern, J. Allan (Whangarei) 25, v. W. Hyland, J. Hogg 23; O. Haig.F. CoburU (Whangarei) 29, v. T. E. Jones, F: C. Bavey 19. Playing at Hlkurangl on Wednesday Dargavttle lifted the Hayes Cup. J. Davie*, A. 3. Mclsaacs (Dargavllle) 31, v. Taylor, Seccombe 17; R. Lowe, D. A. Williams (Dargavllle) 15, v. Campbell, Lomas 18. The Dargavfflp Club will be represented at the Hlkurangl Easter tourney, and are also competing in the banner competition to be played at Waipu on: Easter Monday.
