NEW PRAYER BOOK.
Bishops Of Westminster And
Of York Accept.
SPEECH BT THE PRIMATE.
(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, March 28. The bishops of the Upper House of the province of Canterbury accepted the new Prayer Book by ten votes to six. The bishops of the province of York aceptecd it unanimously.
The primate. In addressing the lower houses of l>oth provinces at the church house, Westminster, replied to a charge that Convocation had been slighted and overlooked. He had always protected the Convocation's rights. The presidency of Convocation among the archbishops was the most prized of their privileges. He hoped that the l»ook would soon pass. because important business awaited the Convocation's attention. He had resj>ected the conscientious convictions of those opposing the book from the outset. He had no right to expect many of them to vote differently now, but lie found a difficulty in understanding the attituGc of those, previously in favour, who now opposed it.
