WORK AT TAKAPUNA.
CONCRETING AND DRAINAGE.
LOAN POLL SANCTIONED.
If the Takapuna ratepayers approve, another £28,100 will be spent by the council in concreting and storm-water drainage works. Official sanction to take a pell was received by last night's meeting of the council from the Local Governments Loan Board.
It was suggested by the BavswaterBelmont Progressive Association that any proposals other than those for the completion of the gaps in the concreting of Lake Road and Bayswater Road, should be put t,o the ratepayers as separate issues. The letter from the department, however, stated that the different works might be treated under one loan proposal.
The Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, said that the council engineer had informed the department that during the coming year the council intended to spend only £7800, this being for Walters Hill and Bayswater Rise. Other work would be left to future councils.
Although instructions were given for taking the poll, it seemed uncertain whether this could be done before the new valuation roll for unimproved value rating had been received. This had to be left open for inspection by the public for three weeks and considered bv the Assessment Court. Thus the actual day when the poll will be taken was decidedly indefinite.
