THE ANNUAL REPORT.
The report of the Auckland Hockey Association, to be presented at the annual meeting, shows that the association had a loss of £22 on the year's working. Two less clubs and teams than on the previous year had taken part in the sport, but the standard of play had been maintained, and Auckland had won the New Zealand Challenge Shield, though the competition had been made farcical by the withdrawal of Canterbury, Wellington and Otago teams. The primary schools 1 team travelled to Wellington to play a challenge match for the Norton Memorial Cup and were defeated by six goals to five. The annual sports tournament had been a great success, and "country week" had attracted eight teams for the White Horse Cup, which was retained by Waipa. The Auckland rep. team played a drawn game against the New Zealand team on the latter'a return from Australia. Five Auckland players got places in the New Zealand team.
