AQUATICS.

POWER BOAT RACES. SPEED BOATS AND OUTBOARDS. HELD ON THE WHAU RIVER. The New Zealand Power Boat Assoc la'tlOM will hol<l a series of speed boat, fast cruiser and outboard events oo the Whau River on Saturday afternoon, for which good entries have been received.

The new course ha« appealed to owners of speed boats and outboard craft especially, while the close proximity to the city, with a concrete road almost to the pretty grounds of Mr. P. Robertson, adjoining the river where all events start and finish, has made the outing very popular with motorists, for whom ample parking space is available free.

A feature of the afternoon's programme will be a relay race between teams of eight outboard t>oate. Thiis is sure to attract attentknn, and is the first event of the kind attempted here. The competing boats have arranged to meet at 2.15 p.m. ait the old wharf, and proceed up river in line-abreast formation to the startling point. A motor bus will leave the U.P.O. at 2 p.m. for the rendezvous.

The officials for the day are: Starters, Messrs. W. I>. Ross, A. J. Col lings and S. Bell-Booth; timekeepers. Messrs. E. L. Buchanan and H. R. Arthur; judge, Mr. A. M. Wilson; lap steward, Mr. F. E. Foster clerk of couse, Mr. C. 11. Palmer (Adelaide) ; river patrols, Messrs. S. H. Ley la ml (Jean), A. McDonald (Edwlna), and L. Sehischka (Wanderoo). Mr. J. S. D. Huuna will attend to secretarial duties.

The following are the entries arod handi caps : —

Fast Cruisers, to start at 3.45 p.m.. course, 3 laps, 4J miles.—Tarua (scr.); Tasmen (5m 15s) ; Lady Margaret (6m 455) : Romance 11. (7m 435).
