% CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
Locando Boy, who won the chief event at, the Inangahua Trotting Club's meting on Monday, will in future be trained by D. Bennett at Addington.
Allanora, who is owned on the West Coast, has been in Nelson Price' 3 stable for some time, but after racing unsuccessfully at the Greymouth and Inangahua meetings has been left with his o« ner.
Royal Audubon is owned by Mr. .7. Dore, of Greymouth, but has been in H."Frost's stable. Royal Audubon Was racing at the, recent West Coast meetings and wijl remain on the other side of the ranges. Royal Auduoon has not been a success since put to the pacing gait.
Cabin Girl was solidly backed in both her races at the last West Coast meeting, but she was unsuccessful. She was sold by her owner, Mr. A. Hendricksen, to Mr. Taylor, the owner of Silurian and Kitty Patch, who both won on the coast.
Logan Lad, who was held under lease for some time, has been returned to his owner, and he was racing at the Greymouth Trotting Club's meeting last week.
D. Withers raced* Danny Boy and Trampcrisp at the West Coast meetings, but both raced indifferently. Trampmsp did not seem to be able to muster up any speed at all.
W. ,T. Tomkinson was seen at his best as a driver at the Grevmoutli and Tnanjraliua. Trotting Clubs' meetings. He started off by winning the first race with Pageant, whom he handled with Treat, care on the small track. Tomkinson kept the pacer well in to the rails, and covered no more ground than was "ctuallv necessary. Mis* Wilkes gave him plenty of opportunities, to show his skill: and, although he could not make the erratic hard-nulline trottei <ro steadily, he controlled her better than most drivers. He was beaten on Shadow-
land by a better horse, but it was in this event that a the ex-Australian driver was seen to most advantage. In a large field —most of them racing in .close order— Tomkinson always maintained his position, and came out to fight a finish with Orphan, who proved too good for Shadowland. Tomkinson won the first race on Monday with Haeraenga Pai, but the pacer was superior to the rest of the field, and did not require so much driving as some of the others. Then Tomkinson drove Miss Wilkes to victory after well earning the fee attached to the drive. Miss Wilkes, as usual, was prepared to do everything wrong, and her driver alone was responsible for her success. He drove Shadowland into third place in the chief event, then had Another drive on' Miss Wilkes, who, despite all his efforts would not go steadily, and was eventually pulled up. Tomkinson's efforts «n Shadowland. when he finished Kecori to Orphan and when lie drove Miss Wilkes to victory, will alwavs stand out as brilliant work ; n the sulky.
