OREWA FLATS FIRE.
CYPRESS PLANTATION DESTROYED.
A fire which occurred on the Orewa Flats made a clean sweep, for a distance of about half-a-mile, of the grasses and lupins which the Government had planted for the protection of the foreshore. It also destroyed most of the two thousand young cypress trees that had recently been planted in the reserve.
