, TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. ... Donald Anderson and Jack Morgan, two young men, were drowned in the Retanke River at Kaitieke this afternoon. * " .
Anderson was bathing in the river when he got out of his depth. Morgan, seeing Anderson in difficulty, went to help him, while Morgan's mother went away to get assistance. When she returned with help there was no sign of her son or of the bather he set out to rescue.
The bodies were recovered within 20 minutes, but artificial respiration' for a long period failed. Anderson was a farm hand employed by a Kaitieke farmer, and Morgan lived with his parents, who are well-known farmers.
