"HOT IRON CURE."
FOR INFLAMED JOINTS.
BERLIN, February 3.
Dr. August Bier, an eminent German surgeon, to-duv demonstrated the newest method of treating serious cases of inflamed joints by what he termed the "hot iron cure."
He explained that he haS revived the remedy of Hippocrates, and, with a special instrument, burnt the tissue under the skin, which was producing inflammation and feverishness, with a powerful healing agent.
Dr. Bier declared that in 460 cases he had treated over a period of three years, the "ironing" has been entirely successful, with no recurrence of the inflamed condition.
Hippocrates was a celebrated Greek physician, born at Cos in the year 400 B.C. He advised diet, fresh air and gymnastics as the best agents of health.
