THREE BOYS BEFORE COURT. TRAIN'S NARROW ESCAPE. (T?y Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Two boya were charged under the Crimes Act in tlie Juvenile Court tliis morning with having placed an obstruction on the Waihi Gold Mining Company's line at Waihi. Sergeant Calwell said that if the train had been derailed the crew might have been seriously injured. The boys evidently did not realise the nature of theii act. When questioned, they had given wrong names and brought another boy under suspicion. The driver of the train fortunately noticed the obstruction, and stopped the engine, which skidded about a chain. The obstruction was a piece of timber, about sft Sin long and fairly thick. The magistrate, Mr. Platts, pointing out the seriousness of the offence, said that in view of the reports of the child welfare officer, he would deal leniently with the boys. They vine admitted to probation for two yearl.
