LOCAL BODIES.

MANUREWA TOWN BOARD. Tli#* Manurewa Town Board met last evening, Mr. W. T. Lox presiding, in the absence of the chairman (Mr A. C. A. Sextonl. Mr. G. Gallagher was also present. Public Pound.—Mr. C. S. McCallum reported that the Manukau County Council's engineer (Mr J. K. Page) was making further investigations. Personally, he considered the proposed site at Takanini very suitable, there being lour railway level crossings within a mile radius. Water.—Mr. H. \V. Gibbs wrote advising that he was prepared to supply water to residents at 5/ per 100 gallons. Mr. Kawcett stated that the new bore on the Bowling Club's property had produced 1800 gallons per liour for a lengthy period, although it was estimated that with suitable plant a How of 3000 gallons per hour was available. 100.000 gallons of water had been pumped onto the club's greens in te?i days. Mr. Kawcett was averse to pipinz the supply to Hall Road for public | use until applications for water had been received. After a lengthy discussion, a committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs. Lupton, Kawcett and Osborne to further investigate the matter and with power to act. Railway Approach—lt was dccided to wait on the Railway Department, pointing nut that no provision had been made for the electric lighting of the station approach between the railway station and < Station Road. Messrs. Kawcett and Osborne were appointed to represent the boaid. Cemetery.—Mr. McCallum reported that a conference of local bodies was to be held in connection with the proposed ' establishment of a municipal cemetery. Mr. K. £?. Pesrler had offered a property suitable for the purpose, and was prepared to take over the boards recentlypurchased property of ten acres at Takanini. at cost price, in exchange for an area of more than twice that size. Mr Met all um suczested that delezalos be I appointed to attend the conference. After some discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr. Osborne, seconded by Mr. 1-awcett. that a suitable cemetery had already been secured, although the scheme may have received consideration had it been put forward at an earlier date.
