SPLENDID CATTLE.
SOME OUTSTANDING ANIMALS HELEN SVILLE SHOW EXHIBITS. . There were some splendid stock animals on exhibition at the Helensville Show particularly amongst the Friesians and Jerseys. The popularity of the former in the North was clearly demonstrated when sonic 64 black and whites were exhibited and formed the largest pedigree cattle section of the show. Hobson Farm, Ltd., Wharepapa, were the most successful exhibitors, winning the gold medal for most points in the * section. Some very fine type animals were shown, the champions being particularly fine. The female championship went to the two imported mature cows—both owned by the Hobson Farm, Ltd.—Garvenbale Princess Segis being champion and Springbank Belle Westport reserve. The male championship also went to the prize-winners in the jnature class, Messrs. Nicholls Bamfield Netherland King being champion and Hobson Farm, Ltd.'s Springbank Zozo Mercena reserve.
Discussing the sheep section, the judge, Mr. S. Standen, said the Southdowns were an exceptionally fine class and, in his opinion, would hold their own in any show in the Dominion. The Romney Marsh section was also well up to standard and Would take some beatinw in other shows he had visited in the North Island.
Included among the pedigree Jersevs were some of the finest stock to be seen in the North Island and the judge, Mr. A. C. Jones, experienced great difficulty in placing the animals.
