ONCE MORE LATE.
BOTH EXPRESSES DELATED.
HEAVY OUTWARD TRAFFIC.
Both the first express and the Limited, which have been running consistently late for some time, arrived in Auckland behind schedule again this morning. The trouble was principally due to waits at crossings at various points along the Main Trunk for down trains.
Passengers by the Limited had a tiresome wait of twenty minutes at Raurimu on account of the delayed arrival there of the second express from Auckland, and eventually arrived at their destination forty-two minutes behind time. The first express, due in at 6.38, steamed into the station at 7.5 a.m.
Passengers report that travelling last night was not so uncomfortable' and grimy as it has been for some time, on account of the rains experienced lower down the line settling the dust appreciably.
Accommodation on all outward expresses last evening and this morning was heavily taxed. The rush is attributed to parents, school children and school teachers from the country returning home at the very last minute and race visitors proceeding to their homes again. The Rotorua express left with a total of thirteen cars, while the Whangarei express had a total of ten on leaving Auckland, and picked up an additional carriage at Mount Eden.
