GIFT TO C. C. DACRE.

A WELLINGTON APPRECIATION.

During the luncheon interval at the Plunket Shield crickc-t match between Auckland and Wellington yesterday, Mr. G. C. Wilson, president of the Wellington Cricket Association, made a presentation of a gold wristlet watch, suitably inscribed, to Dacre from Wellington cricketers and well wishers. Mr. Wilson referred to Dacre's fine cricket record both for Auckland and New Zealand and his remarks were endorsed by W. S. Brice, captain of the Wellington team, and T. C. Lowry, captain of the New Zealand team which recently returned from England. Dacre briefly responded and was .given rousing cheers. It has been suggested to the Auckland Cricket Association that it communicate immediately with Gloucestershire seeking permission to retain Dacre for the match against Australia. If this is successfully accomplished, the inclusion cf Dacre as well as Bowlev and Langridge against Australia would have a Li 0 effect upon the gate receipts. It may mean Dacre going through America instead of by the Panama, in which case the Auckland Association would have to pav a small difference in the fares.
