STILL A SECRET.
LICENSING BILL'S FUTURE.
ONLY MR. COATES KNOWS.
AND HE WILL NOT TELL. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is doubtful whether Mr. Coates will make Ills eagerly-anticipnted statement in the House to-day concerning the Licensing Bill. When interviewed this morning and asked to give a hint of his intentions "or papers outside Wellington, he declined to say anything.
It is evident that Mr. Coates has kept his own counsel, because everyone is in doubt. The South Island members are very impatient, since they want to know the probable date of the end of the session, in order that they may make ferry bookings, but nothing can draw the Prime Min'f'er. The utmost that members could hope for was a statement when the House met for the afternoon session.
