AUCKLAND CLUB RECEPTION.

DISTINGUISHED VISITORS ENTERTAINED.

The Auckland Club was gaily delocated yesterday afternoon with beauti ful blooms and pot pianis when an "At Home" took place to entertain the Right Hon. L. C. M. S. Amery, Secretary of State for the Dominions, and Mrs. Amery. There was a large gathering of guests, amongst them, Mr. De Chair, lon of the Governor of New South Wales.

""The rooms had been lavishly decorated j "or the afternoon, and the billiardroom, where refreshments were laid on the three large topped billiard tables, was a glory of pink sweet peas in large silver and crystal ! bowls and epergnes, while tbe middle i table was a study in tones of flame carried out with scarlet gerberas and deep red gladiolas, the whole scheme being very effective. The dining-room was arranged for dancing, where a string band discoursed sweet music. " The lounge had massed primulas in ■•each corner and a large bowl of beautiful delphiniums. The pot plants from the Ellerslie greenhouse made an effective setting for rthe frocks of the% guests. The president, Mr. John Alexander, received 1 the guests in the entrance to the lounge, and was ably assisted by Mrs. •Alexander, who wore a frock of leaf green figured crepe de chine with panel reaching right down the front in champagne coloured, finely pleated georgette, and a black hat with bird of paradise plumes. Mrs. Amery wore a frock of nutmeg ninon, patterned in floral design under a wrap of black satin and a close fitting hat of rose felt. •

Coates, wife of the Prime Minister, w.ore a frock of champagne lace and georgette, with loops of black velvet ribbon from the shoulders, and a black crinoline straw hat, trimmed with velvet. Lady Sinclair Lockhart, wore navy blue crepe de chine, spotted in biege, and a navy hat with floral decoration; Mrs. Milsom, biege lace frock and black hat; Mrs. Shayle George, wrap of black satin and black hat, trimmed with lace; Mrs. J. R. Reed, black satin with panel of putty-coloured georgette and large black hat; Mrs. R. Isaacs, navy blue georgette, relieved with delphinium blue and navy hat: Mrs. W. Boyle, orchid eharmante and crinoline hat to tone.
