DISHONEST BOY IMMIGRANT.
A BAD START.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday.
"You have made a very bad start in this ountry, but you will have another chance. You will be placed on probation for twelve months, and to give you every opportunity of turning over a new leaf your name will be suppressed." This advice was given by Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., to a youth, aged 19 years, who admitted, at the Police Court, to stealing a diamond ring, valued at £20, the property of Mrs. M. E. Barrowclough.
The police stated that the boy was brought out to New Zealand last June under the Salvation Army immigration scheme, and was employed on a farm, where he stole the ring, which belonged to his employer's wife. It was indicated that the Salvation Army authorities would take charge of the youth.
