WAIPOUA FOREST.
N.Z. INSTITUTE'S INSPECTION.
TWO PARTIES BEING ORGANISED
Having seen in the newspapers that parties from the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Institute were to visit the Waipoua Forest this summer, in connection with its endeavours to protect that grand national heritage, the Dargaville Borough Council has now written to the secretary (Mr. N. E. W. Thomas) stating that it will be extremely pleased to co-operate with the Dargaville Chamber of Commerce in giving all assistance in its power to further the delegates' wishes to investigate matters on the spot. Two parties are being organised, and the first will go early next month. Reference to Waipoua Forest will be made in the lecture to be delivered in the University biological theatre next Thursday by Mr. T. L. Lancaster, chairman of the Auckland council of +he institute and lecturer in botany at the University. His lecture will be entitled "Some Gimpses of New Zealand Plant Life." He is the leading authority on New Zealand flora, and as the public has been invited to attend the lecture, it is sure to be well attended.
