NEWTON BURGLARY.

FANCY GOODS SHOP. MONEY STOLEN FROM TELL. UPSTAIRS WINDOW OPENED. Money was evidently the object of the burglar who paid a visit last night to Mrs. Fyfe's fancy goods shop, known as "The Shakespeare," at 124, Karangahape Road. Getting to the rear of the premises via a right-of-way, the thief climbed on to a lean-to and opened an upstairs window. Then he went downstairs to the shop. A till containing about £1 in silver and coppers was forced open and the money taken. Nothing else in the shop was touched or removed. The absence of jemmy marks on the window and the fact that no poods were stolen indicate that the "job" was the work of youths.
