ATHLETIC CHAMPIONS.

LORD BURLEIGH'S DOUBLE. (Received 1 p.m.) COLOGNE, September 18. At the International Athletic Meeting. Cumming, hurdler champion of New York, won the hundred metres in 10 3-ss, beating Scholz, American Olympic representative and Theard, of France. The German, Peltzcr, won the thousand metres in 2m 25 4-ss, a world's record, defeating Mertin, the French champion.

Lord Burleigh won the 110 and 200 metres hurdles, beating respectively Bertheir of France, in 15 l-ss, and Alzar of France in 24 3-ss.— (A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun."
