AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

AUCKLAND CENTRE PLANS. OUTER DOMAIN SCHEME. A meeting of the Auckland Centre, New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening, Mr. W. Morton in the chair.

The New Zealand Council wrote relative to club members' registration fees, which must be collected in the interest of tiie Olympic Fund. It was pointed out that the Centre was responsible for all outstanding affiliation* fees, and it was resolved that the president and hon. secretary draft a reply to the council. The secretary reported having received tenders for the Auckland Provincial championship medals, and that he had closed with the lowest, that of Messrs. Young and Co.—His action was approved. On the motion if Mr. Shirley, it was decided to hold a smoke social in the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday next, September 10, at which visiting cyclists would be entertained and the provincial championship medals be presented. It was agreed to hold the Auckland chamiponships track, cycling and field events on November 12.

A letter was received from the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association stating that the annual show would be held on -December 3 and asking the Centre to keep that date clear if possible. It was decided to fall in with the request, but at the same time to suggest that amateur athletic competitions lie arranged at Alexandra Park by the A. and P. Association, the Centre to conduct the same. £ The president explained a scheme to improve the finances of the Centre and the various dubs affiliated in the province. It was unanimously resolved that the scheme be approved and that a special meeting of executive officers from all dubs be called to make early preparation for carrying out the proposition. The president reported on the meeting of the executive with Mr. E. Pbelan on Saturday hut, when the proposal to construct a running track and banked cycling track on the Outer Domain was discussed. After heartily approving of the effort being made to secure such a track the delegates resolved that the Rugby Union, Football Association.
