WELLINGTON GIRL TOURIST.
LED ASTRAY BY COMPANION.
The case of the two adventurous 18year old girls who travelled through to Auckland from Waipukurau in a decrepit car, and subsequently came under the notice of the police in the early hours of the morning, was again mentioned in the Police Court yesterday afternoon, when the girl who hails from Wellington was brought before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., on a charge of vagrancy.
Senior Sergeant Edwards briefly outlined the facts of the case, and stated that since the girls came to the city three weeks ago, they had been keeping late hours and attending dances. The police had got into touch with the relatives of the accused, and it appeared that her mother consented to her coming away with her companion. He doubted, hbwever, whether she was aware that her daughter was coming to Auckland. A police escort was travelling through to Wellington that evening, and he suggested that the girl be dealt with Immediately so that she might be delivered safely to her parents. The girl, he pointed out, had been led astray by her companion, and it was hardly right that she should have a conviction recorded against her. Inquiries were still bemg made about the other girl, who belonged ta Waipukurau. hi accordance with the Senior Sergeant's recommendation, the case against accused was adjourned for a month, and it is probable that little more will be heard of it.
