GREAT HOPE (4.24 2-5).
It is doubtful if a trainer ever "held a stronger hand than J. Bryce is in a position to play in the New Zealand Trotting Cup in November. He has no less than four candidates, Ahurir} (winner of the race in 1925 arid 1926), Great Hope (winner in 1923) r Acron, and Kohara. It is indeed a strong team, and there is a prevailing opinion that if all go well in their training,. Bryce will pin most faith to the prospects of Great Hope this season. Ever since he was first handled the chestnut son of Great Audubon and Sadie Dillon has been good. - As a three-year-old he won both the New Zealand Derby and Great Northern Derby, also the Champion Stakes, and was easily the best of his age that season, 1921-22. In 1623 he won the New Zealand Trotting Cup, going 4.31 2-5, which time he has improved upon since, and bis best record for two miles is 4.24 2-5. Last season he only faced the starter on two occasions, being unplaced each time, and last month at the Metropolitan meeting he ran unplaced in the August Handicap and National Cup. In the New Zealand Cup Great Hope lias "been handicapped on 36yds (4.25).
