"LAZY WASTER."
YOUTH IN POLICE COURT. CASTIGATED BY MAGISTRATE. (By Teleyraph.-—Own Correspondent.) Hamilton, this day.
" A t . rep ° 1 ' t which I have received from the South states that you are a lazy waster, unwilling to work, and that you associate with thieves and other persons of ill-repute," remarked Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court this u' 10 ! 1 a youn 8 m *n named Kenneth Hugh Gough pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to convert a car to his own use in Hamilton a few days ago. Gough, a well-set-up, respectably, dressed youth of 20, had been remanded to enable a report to be obtained on his doings in Wellington, where he belongs. It was from this report that his Worship quoted. It also stated that Gough had seven previous convictions against him i including three for theft and one for' unlawfully taking a car. His Worship added that in the past accused s parents had apparently paid lus fines. It was not, however, too late to try to make something of accused yet. "You are only twenty," added his Worship, "and I am going to take some steps to check your career in crimc and put you where you will be made to work at a useful, educative occupation. You will be sent to a Borstal Institution for a term not exceeding two years."
