TE AUTE DEFEATED.
NEW PLYMOUTH HK.H SCHOOL WIN BY 22 TO NIL. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. Before a large crowd of spectators the annual match between New Plymouth High School and Te Ante College was played at Pukekura Park.. The teams were well matched, and the game soon developed into a fast, hard contest, and though in the early stages there were flashes of brilliant play on both sides the tackling was too good for these movements to get very far. High School were more successful in getting possession of the scrums and from the lineouts, and their backs made better use of the opportunities they had for concerted action. On the other hand, Te Autc, until near the end, made the game tight, but their forwards were not able to penetrate the defence of Die home side, whose line was preserved intact. When the visitors began to open up the game in the final quarter they appeared dangerous, and School had a few- anxious occasions. Piper, Thompson, and Rum were particularly aggressive, and had they adopted more open tactics earlier in the game Tc Aute might have done better.
Xew Plymouth's score of 22 points consisted of six tries scored by Beck, Watson (2), Gibbons, Wgtere, and MeNeill, of which Brown converted two..
