LAWN TENNIS.

BALL FOR THE SEASON. FUTURE MEETINGS QUESTION,

One of the most important matters dealt with by the delegates at the annual meeting of the Auckland Lawn Icnms Association on Wednesday was the niake of the ba „ for the ason llus led to considerable discussion, but eventually a strong vote was given for the Spalding. Mr. V. R. Jones gave notice that he would move at the next monthly meeting of the association • that a management committee of twelve delegates be appointed to meet at least once a month and decide matters of urgency there and then, rather than that important matters should be held over until the usual monthly meeting of the delegates. If this motion is carried it will mean, it is pointed out, that in future the full number of delegates will meet in all probability once in three months. The idea is not new, and was really brought to a head by an analysis of the attendances of various delegates. This showed that although nine meetings were held during the year, the average attendances worked out at less than four. From this it was surmised that some members turned out to meetings only when matters concerning their own club was being brought forward. A sub-committee, comprising the president and Messrs. Taylor and Griffiths were appointed to reduce the number of applicants for the position of secretary to three, and report to the next meeting. It was decided to make a presentation to the guarantors of the Big Three Art Union on behalf of the association, and it was decided that £45 should be spent on suitable gifts.
