HONOLULU CONFERENCE.
DELEGATE UNABLE TO GO. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
Mr. J. £. Strachan, president of the Canterbury Progress League, who has been confined to his bed for the last week, has suffered a relapse, which will probably compel him to relinquish* his public duties for the next few months. Mr. Strachan had intended leaving to-day for Honolulu, where he was to have represented New Zealand at the conference arranged by the Institute of Pacific, Relations. For some time past he had been engaged with the local group of the institute in collecting and preparing material for the conference. The material has now been forwarded to the other New Zealand representatives proceeding to the' conference.
