IMMIGRATION WORK.

CHURCH OF ENGLAND'S PART. APPEAL FOR SUPPORT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. - ) HAMILTON, Friday.

"That this synod commends to the attention of all Church people the importance of the work being done by the Church of England Council of Empire Settlement, and urges all churchmen to co-operate with the diocesan organisation in finding suitable homes for the boys coming from the Homeland." This resolution, moved by the Rev. F. S. Harty, was carried unanimously by the Waikato Synod to-day. Mr. Harty said the best recommendation of the scheme was the fact that 65 pci- cent of the boys brought out had remained in their first positions. Those who had moved once totalled 20 per cent, and the remainder were now satisfactorily placed. Great care had always been taken in selecting the boys, and equal care had been exercised in selecting suitable farms. He urged upon the synod the necessity for applications to be sent in promptly, as there were 35 boys now en route to New Zealand, on the Tamaroa, and only 14 per cent of these had so far been placed.
