In a hockey match at Tanrnnga yesterday Whakntane defeated the local team by il goals to 1. The teams were practically the same ns will compote In the White Horse Cup tourney at Auckland. The Tanrnnga ladies' tenm defeated the To Puke ladles' team by o goals to - Teams which are to compete In the Auckland tournament will leave Tauranga by stenmer 011 Saturday night.
SELECTING DOMINION TEAM,
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) I'ALMEItSTON NOKTII, Wednesday. Hockey of high standing was witnessed here to-day, when the Manawatu team was defeated by a tea'rn of players availble for the Australian tour, drawn from various parts of the Dominion. Among the spectators were the New Zealand selectors. The names of players chosen for the tour will not be announced until Tuesday. Manawatu was beaten by 5 goals to 1.
