QUESTION OF COSTS.
EXPENSE OP WATER COMMISSION.
Since the finding of the Water Commission, which recently took evidence, has been announced, the only point which remains to be cleared up is in connection with the cost of the commission, which is estimated in the vicinity of £1500. The various local bodies, which were represented at the sitting of the/commission, have not as yet received any advice on the subject, and possibly the exp'ense will be apportioned amongst them.
The Mayor (Mr. Geo. BaUdon) stated this morning that the Auckland City Council had not received any advice upon the point, and a communication from the commissioner was being awaited.
The Government should pay the costs," said the Mayor of Mount Eden (Mr. E. H. Potter). He added that the Auckland Provincial Water Board had not asked fcr the commission to be set up, and therefore should not party to any costs. ~' ~ "• " *
