APPEKLEY WINS TITLE.
SYDNEY, June 19
The Xew South Wales amateur golf championship was won yesterday by Apperley. who defeated Smith in the final by 4 up and 3 to play.
As lie had previously won the championship in 191S, 1920 and 1922 Apperley had experience on his side against his 23-year-old opponent. He was 2 up on the first round but lost the two opening holes on resuming. He won the next and graduaJlv drew away. Both players drove consistently well. Their putting was relatively pood and comparatively even, but the winner excelled in his "shots up to the green. The New Zealand golfers who were still in Svdney on Friday were taken on a motor trip to Blackheath in the mountain* Rain caused the abandonment of :i friendly match just after it had been commenced. ... _._
