REPQRT OF THE WARDENS.
?The anaual meeting of parishioners of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Epsom, Iras night. The report of the ■wardens, Messrs. J. B. Lusk and Harry Frost, referred to the removal of the minister, Kev. E. Lionel Harvie, to St. Andrew's, Cambridge. During the eight years' ministry of Mr. Harvie, the congregation nearly doubled, due not only to the natural growth of the. district, but in no small measure to the energy and splendid allround work of the late vicar and his •wife. On their departure the vicar and his wife were presented -with a wallet containing £78. The report also referred to the sudden death of Mr. Edward Clay, a lay reader, and also of Mrs. Wynward. senr., whose membcM--Ehip dated back to the infancy of St. Andrew's Church. The report states that the past year •was one of splendid progress hi* all branches. The Public Trustee had notified the vestry that £1250, left by Mr .William Greenwood to the church, would be available. , The balance sheet showed there was a jieredit in the general account of £20 4/8 • The total of offertories was £SlO, as ■'against £717 in the previous year. The revenue from the Cemetery Board va> (£134 4/9, and the expenditure, £51 • 29/3. leaving a balance to working '-•account of £76 5/6. The capital was '[£964 0/8 last year, and is now [£1043 3/8. The report pointed out thai the fund needed to be increased ti J£3ooo to give enough income properly ti maintain the cemetery.
Reference was made to the shortage of teachers in the Sunday school. The roll showed 221 scholars, and 85 in the kindergarten, making a total of 306 with 21 teachers. A beautiful stained glass window was donated by Mrs. Grove and her family in remembrance of Mr. W. H. Grove and ]us son. The women's guild had a lnemfcershij of 75. During the year the guild don *ted [£230 to the church enlargement fund, making the splendid total raised by that body, £580. The total receipts from all sources foi the year were £1245 4/6,. as comparec "With £1080 2/-in the previous twelve jnonthe. On November 30 this year, St. 'Andrew's Church will have completed the *jsth year of its existence. ST. JOHN'S, TUAKAU. ' The vicar, the Rev. C. A. Vaughan presided at the annual meeting ol parishioners of St. John's Anglican Church, Tuakau, when the following officers were appointed:—People's warden, Mr. T. Lapwood; vicar's warden, Mr. H. Steer; vestry, Messrs l> A. Hillary, E. W. Fielder, P. Collins W. G. Graham, W. 6. Hewitt, T. Svans and L. Batkin (secretary). The vicai referred to the efforts of the Ladies' Guild during the past year and said it was alnipst impossible to carry- on the ehurch activities without their aid. Votes of thinks Were accorded officers connected with the church for their wort last year. ..-, • ■
