"BIT THE HAND THAT FED HIM." V MEAN, CONTEMPTIBLE THEFT. YOUXG MAX REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. ■Tamos Lloyd Proclaim (101 "bit the hand that fed him" and so g«it himself into trouble. He en mo before Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., at the Police Court this morning, pleadiiifl fjuilty to stealing a shirt ami collar valued at 7/6, the property of Keith GalTey. There was another charge—of failing to comply with the terms and conditions of his release on probation. Chief Detective Cummings stated that Freebairn went to Mr. Gaffcy's house ami asked for help. Mr. Gaffey took him into his house for the night and pave him food. The next day Freebairn left, after thanking Mr. Gaffey. but later he returned, and, during the temporary absence of the family he stole the shirt and collar belonging to Mr. (laffey's son. ''It was a mean, contemptible theft," added Mr. Cum m ings. '"On Saturday he was seen at the races and arrested. Ho has been associating with another thief." Freebairn was remanded for sentence until Thursday next, when tin- probation otlic'cr will be present.
