Mr. H. H. Sterling (Hamilton). Mr. r. R. Lees (Palmerston North). Mr. L Ardell (Wellington) and the Hon. Edward Newman (Marton) are among the guests at the Grand Hotel. The Rev. Kenneth Macfarland, who returned to Auckland by the Makura on Tuesday, after a number of years' work in various Loudon parishes, has been appointed to St. George's Church. Kingsland. The induction ceremony will be l>erformed by his Grace the Archbishop this evening at St. George's Church. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Cheseboroujrh. of New York, are passengers on the Franeonia, now in Auckland. Mr. Cheseborough is keenly interested in the subject of industrial welfare, and during his holiday trip he proposes to visit the principal factories and warehouse* in Australia and New Zealand. Coates. in whose district the three local bodies named are located. At the monthly meeting of the North Auckland Land Board. Mr. H. J. Lowe. Commissioner of Crown Lands, who is chairman, intimated that he vj< voluntarily resigning from the Government service on March 31. Members and the «eeretary spoke in eulogistic terms of the manner in which he had discharged his official duties. and evpres»<*d regret at his decision. The Rev. W. L Marsh. M.A.. who caine to Xew Zealand from Grahatnslown. in South Africa, at the latter end of last year, and who during the interval has occupied the pulpits of St. John's. Wellington, and Knox Church. Dunedin. arrived in Auckland from the South this morning. Mr. Marsh, who is an English Presbyterian, studied his theology at Cambridge University, and is an able preacher. He was met at the station by the Rev. George Budd. and during the next twj Sundays will take the services at St. Paul"* Church. Devonport. which is at pre-ent without a mini«ter.
