PORT OF NEW PLYMOUTH.
JANUARY A RECORD MONTH.

The steady development of trade at the port of New Plymouth was indicated in a report to the Harbour Board at to-day's meeting by the harbourmaster, who stated that the past month had been a record month in the history of the port. The number of vessels which entered the port was 33, of an aggregate tonnage of 84.379. The cargo handled amounted to 17.767 tons, comprising 12,148 tons of imports and 5619 tons of exports.
Seven overseas and three intercolonial vessels were included in the month's total of vessels to visit the port. The Cambridge was the largest vessel which had yet called at the port, while the ship of deepest draught was the Eoreric, 25ft Sin.
The chairman, Mr. Bellringer. made favourable comment on the development of the trade of the port, and expressed gratilication at the number of intercolonial vessels, as well as overseas, which had called during the month.
