ROYAL SHOWS.
COUNCIL DECIDES POLICY. AUCKLAND CONGRATULATED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The council of the Royal Agricultural Society has decided that the Royal Show for 1927 shall be held in Christchurch. The following resolution defining the council's policy for future Royal shows was carried at a recent meeting: "That this council recommends that the Royal Show for 192S be held in Palmerstou North, and that Southland's application for the Royal Show be considered at the first council meeting in 1929; furthermore, it is the considered opinion of this council that A. and P. associations other than Palmerston North and Christchurch should have an opportunity of holding the Royal Show if they so desire every third year. It was decided to grant £1230 to the Canterbury A. and P. Association for the carrying out of the fourth Royal Show. It was resolved: "That in all Royal Show classes the full advertised prizemoney be paid to winners, but that the attention of judges should be drawn to the fact that prizes should not be | awarded in classes where there is no competition, unless the quality of the animals warrants it." Referring to the last show held by the society, the president, Mr. W. Perry, expressed the opinion that the council should consider the holding of the show in Auckland was a great success, and the holding of it there had been thoroughly justified. Owing to the heavy expenditure which had to be faced in the matter of providing accommodation for stock and in general running expenses the profit of the show, if, indeed, there were any, would be a small one. The Auckland officials should be congratulated upon the success which 5 had attended their efforts.
