Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley, California, is the hottest known inhabited spot on the globe. A government thermomenter there registered 134 degrees in the shade. The coldest recorded locality is in Northern Siberia, where the mercury drops to 00 degrees below zero.
It has been found that a marketable oil can be made from cherry stones. The stones are heated, the shells broken and the oil made from the kernel within. The shells are used for fuel.
