SENSATIONAL SEQUEL.
TO MOTORING ACCIDENT. ALLEGED THEFT OF THE CAR. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, this day. A sequel to the serious motor accident on the Tirau-Cambridge Road yesterday, when a car went off the road at Pott's Corner, resulting in the three occupants being injured, was the appearance at the local Police Court this morning of the driver of the car, Harold Joseph Whittle, alias Harold Joseph Tobin, who was charged with the theft of a seven-seater car, valued at £265, the one concerned in the accident, from Hatrick and Co., Wellington, on December 14 last. Accused showed evidence of the accident, appearing with his head and face heavily swathed in bandages. On account of his bodily injury, he was allowed to remain seated during the proceedings. On the application of the police, accused, who bad been under detention since the accident, was remanded to appear at Wellington on December 3U, when other charges will probably be preferred against him.
