OPEN FOR CHRISTMAS.

THE NORTHERN HIGHWAY. The northern highway was opened to-day for light traffic along its continuous concreted section to Henderson. The maximum load on the road' until the concrete is completely hardened will be two tons on four wheels. Owing to the large number of requests to have the road open for Christmas, the usual interval of four weeks after the completion of the work has not been insisted upon. The new unused section, which has been closed for some months to enable the concreting work to be carried out extends from Eden View Road to the crest of Waikumete Hill. It was finished three weeks ago last Tuesday.
