CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS COMPETITION.

THE JUDGES' DECISION FURTHER TEST ARRANGED. It i* unfortunate that we are not in a position to announce the final result* of the all New Zealand children's competition before Christmas. The competition was considered to be so hard that few, if any, children would reach the correct solution, but such was not the case, and fortyfour competitors correctly joined the various heads and bodies. Rather than award the prizes on a neatness and age basis, th* " Auckland Star" has decided to arrange a further series of 20 animals, which will be sent out to these forty-four children, and from them will come the winners. A copy of the new series will be posted out to each of the 44, and their lists are to be returned to this office by mid-day on Wednesday, January 5. The final test is considerably harder than the original puxzl*. The competition envelopes will not be opened until mid-day on Wednesday, January 5. The first prize winners in the various centre* (there are now three wireless sets) will be the competitor* with the correct, or nearest to correct, solution, and the other 'prizes will b* awarded in order of merit. It is regrettable that the award* will not be made until the New Year, but the fairest way of separating those who submitted correct results in the first instance appears to be a further test, and this cannot be completed under a fortnight. When the winners, are published the second collection of animals which the competitors had to assort -will be published for all the entrant* to try. It will not be necessary to send in solutions, as, after an interval of a week, the correct solutions will be given. The results of this final contest will be published in the " Auckland Star," " Wellington Post," and " Chrutchurch Star" on Thursday, January 6. The correct solution was:—
