SURF-BOAT WRECKED.

AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. During the loading operations at Pitt Island (Chathams), the crew of the surfboat of the steamer Tees had an exciting time. An exceptionally heavy swell carried the boat on to the reef where it sank before the two occupants had time to digest themselves* of their heavy seaboots. Mr. Hunt dived down and hauled the two men into shallow water. The surfboat was a total loss.
