HOLIDAY TRAFFIC.
c HEAVY BOOKING RECORDED. BIG CALL ON RAILWAYS. (By Tel-graph—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Though comparisons are of no value ;as regards railway bookings, owing to the [fact of the Dunedin Exhibition last year, ' and the fact that much of the booking jlast year was done by the Union Comipany, there is evidence, if anything, of j heavier booking for the Christmas season I itself than last year. The night Limited jfor the North is already filled for the J22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 26th, also the 2 ■ p.m. train on the 23rd while the daylight j Limited trains on the 23rd and 24th are ,also full. It has been found necessary jto strengthen all other trains. There is a decided call for trains for Napier and Hawke's Bay. Generally, the Union Company's bookings are also heavy, particularly for trips across to the | Sounds. Motor transports will account j for much heavier travel than hitherto. I EXODUS STARTS FROM DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph.—Special to ■' Star.") I DUNEDIN, this day. It is estimated that about 9000 people ! will leave Dunedin this Christmas by ! trains, north and south. Traffic is sure Ito be a record and new figures will be j set up for the number of long-distance ; travellers. Already this week £2500 more than last year has passed into the ticket windows at the Dunedin station. Bookings for the North Island are particularly heavy, at least 15 to 20 per cent of the passengers by the north-ward-bound trains hating made reservations for stations in the North Island.
