N.Z. LEAGUE PLAYERS.
CONTROLLERS AT ODDS. LONDON, December 20. The trouble regarding the New Zealand League football team may result in the remainder of the fixtures being abandoned. It is now stated that the match played against Hunslet on Saturday may be the last game of the tour, , although previously the League had i decided to arrange matches until Janu- | ary 10. ' If this is so the curtailment of the J tour will mean the loss of £2000. In ! view of the urgency of the situation : the council of the League will meet ear- • lier than had been arranged. j The League refutes the insinuations J that its decision upholds the action of the malcontents. Mr. John Wilson, secretary of the League, says Mr. E. H. Mair, one of ■ the managers of the New Zealand team, asked a shipping company to arrange return bookings for five or six players on December 31. Mr. Wilson, however, told the shipping company that Mr. Mair has no authority to place such an order. Mr. Wilson added that he hoped it I would not be necessary to cancel the j seven fixtures already arranged and I four others contemplated.
