SATURDAY'S EVENTS. VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB. HARBOUR RACES, ALL CLASSES. The Victoria Cruising Club held a series of harbour races on Saturday, all races starting and finishing off the dredge Maui, moored off St. Mary's Bay. The wind was rather light early in the afternoon, but a good sailing breeze from the north set in shortly after the first race started, and held for the rest of the day. The following are the results :— Launches. —Only thcee started, the finish being timed: Estherr}. (9m 30s), 2h 55m 2s; Manurere (14m 30s), 2h 59m 15s; Young Zealandia (28m 30s), 3h 15m 51s. Result: Manurere 1, Esther G. 2, Young Zealandia 3. Keel Yachts.—Only Wairiki and Alexa started on time. Loloma was 8m and Cooee 11m 50s late. Wairiki, sailing well in the light weather, maintained her lead throughout. The finishing times were: Wairiki, 4h 44m 41s ; Cooee, 4h 47m 565; Loloma, 4h 49m 12s; Alexa, 4h 49m 3Ss. Result: Loloma 1, Wairiki 2, Cooee 3. H Class.—Spray was first away, followed by Why Not, Starlight and Awatere. The latter took the lead, but Spray and Starlight had a close finish. The times were: Awatere, 4h 42m 51s; Starlight, 4h 46m 12s; Spray, 4h 46m 16s; Why Not, 4h 55m 375. Result: Why Not 1, Awatere 2, Spray 3. L Class. —This was a good start. Kokiri was first away, followed by Ngaru IL. Venus, Forest Gold, Waima and Louisa in that order. Rakoa was late. Venus went into the lead, and the finish was : Veuus, 4h 47m 255; Kokiri, 4h 47m 295; Forest Gold, 4h 56m 51s; Ngaru 11., 4h 59m lis; Waima, 5h 3m 30s; Louisa, 5h 17m 2Ts. Result: Kokiri 1. Venus 2, Forest Gold 3. N Class. —Winifred led throughout in this class, the finish being: Winifred, 4h 57m 18s ; Isabelle, 5h 9m 36s ; Wairere, 5h 11m 28s. Result: Winifred 1. Isabelle 2, Wairere 3. Waiapu did not finish. S Class. —Namu took the lead early in the race and the finish was: Namu, 4h 30m 19s; Mum, 4h 38m 235; Lancia, 4h 39m Is; Atangatal, 4h 40m 4s; Aratu, 4h 40m 37s ; Sea Sleigh, 4h 41m 28s ; Rival, 4h 42m 33s ; """en Bolt, 4h 50m 41s. T Class.—Five boats started in this class, the champion Rona leading throughout, the finishing times being: Rona, 5b 4m 9s; Meteor, 5h 12m 265; Resolute, 5h 12m 31s; Mispah, 5h 28m 245; Hapuka, 5h 30m 355. Result: Rona 1, Meteor 2, Resolute 3. V Class.—Six boats started in this class. Surprise laeding on the first round, but Drone passed her, and the finish was: Drone, 5b 7m 18s; Surprise, 5h 8m 7s; Millicent. 5h 11m Is ; Wild Wave, 5h 11m 375; Ngari. 5h 24m 21s ; Solace, 5h 21m 465. Result : Millicent 1, Drone 2, Wild Wave 3. M Class. —Mawhiti, 6h 2m 20s; Marere, 6h 2m 255; Mollie, 6h 2m 425; Maroro, 6h 2m 48s; Manene, 6h 3m 13s. Result: Mawhiti 1, Marere 2, Mollie 3. The officers of the day were. —Starter, Mr. O. Johnson ; judge, Mr. W. J. Matthews; timekeeper, Mr. H. Crowl. TAMAKI YACHT CLUB. TWO GENERAL HANDICAPS. The Tamaki Yacht Club held two races for club boats, both starting and finishing , off Kohimarama. The first event was a general handicap for the M., V., and Star classes, which were sent away at 2.35 p.m. The starters were Ola IV., Manene, Moa, Mollie, Maroro, June, Mawhiti, Mischief, Matarere, and Pixie, in this order. Ola and Manene were ahead on the lead to the Bastion, and on the beat down to Rangitoto wharf. The boats had a long run back to the finishing line, and the finish was: Ola, 4h 50m Is; June, 4h 51m 20s; MoUie, 4h 52m 16s; Manene, 4h 53m 12s; Maroro, 4h 53m 435; Matarere, 4h 55m 275; Mawhiti, 4h 57m 335; Moa, 5h 4m 58s; Pixie, 5h 14in. Result: Ola IV. 1, Mollie 2, June 3. Ola won by 15s. Mischief gave up. General Handicap for X, T. and V Classes, —This event started at 2.45 p.m. From a good start, Kismet was first away, followed by Jupiter. Sea Breeze, Tui, Sea Nymph, Nyria, Sea Gnome, Eleanor, Ngaio, and Bronzewing, in this order. Jupiter and Kismet led round Bastion and to Bean Rock. Passing the starter's boat on completion of the first round, Jupiter had a lead of 10s from Kismet, with Sea Gnome third, and Eleanor fourth. The same order was kept on the second round, except that Ngaio went into third place, and the finish was timed: Jupiter, 4h 47m 15s: Kismet, 4h 47m 20s; Ngaio, 4h 49m 3s; Eleanor, 4h 49m 36s ; Sea Breeze, 4h 49m 36s ; Bronzewing, 4h 52m 35s ; Tui, 4h 56m 325. Result: Sea Breeze 1, Jupiter 2, Ngaio 3. The officers of the day were : Starter, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson ; judge, Mr. Fred. Browne ; timekeeper, Captain Barnes. MILFORD CLUB. A race over a triangular course took place on Saturday under the auspices of the Milford Cruising Club. Four boats competed. Results : The Vamp, 58m, 1; Huia, 58im, 2 ; Orangi, COim, 3 ; The Shark, (511 m, 4. The Huia was late in starting. The Vamp and The Shark passed the line half a uiinuu- after time. The race started at 4.44 p.m. OCEAN YACHT RACES. TO TAURANGA AND RUSSELL. The ocean yacht races held annually from Auckland to Tauranga, and from Auckland to Russell in connection with the regattas to be held at these two ports, at Tauranga on Tuesday, December 28, and at Russell on Thursday, December 30, will start as usual on Christmas evening. This year the majority of the boats are going North, the Russell Regatta Committee having always divided the boats into keel and centreboard classes, for which good prizes are offered. Twenty-one boats have entered for Russell and seven for Tauranga. The Tauranga Regatta Committee, at the request of owners of centreboard boats, have agreed to add a race for them, provided three or more cDtcr. The prize for the keel yachts is the Colin Norris Memorial Gold Cup. The following are the entries :— Tauranga.—Nga-Toa. Heartsease. Cooee, Waitangi, Queenie, Wairiki. and Lady Sterling.
